Daily Ramblings - Puerto Vallarta - November 22, 2009 -
Our 12 day visit to Puerto Vallarta on Major Wager has come to an end. At noon today we fly to Aspen and re-enter winter. It has been a glorious time of relaxing and being with long held friends.
Of course the time with Lee and Joanne Lyon is always special for us. Lee and Jo graciously hosted us along with friends from Aspen and Minneapolis for a lovely dinner at their ocean side home. Everyone marveled at the amazing collection of art and interesting pieces from around the world. They are a real inspiration with all they have packed into their adventurous lives.
Nick and Betty Coates from Aspen and Okoboji delighted us with an evening in their spectacular home here. Built on the side of a mountain overlooking the Pacific - it is beyond description. Check it out by Googling Estrella Mar.
Sharing Andy Modell and Rebecca Doane’s excitement in their new marriage resulted in several days of laughter and far too much refreshment.
Kirk and Pat Watson are soul mates. We feel so close to them and wish we could be together far more often. Their generosity and kindness are an inspiration.
Several new crew have resulted in a fresh and lively vibe on the boat. Clint, Chief Engineer, and Jules, Chief Stew, joined the boat just as it was departing LA for Puerto Vallarta. Their sense of humor, ready smiles and easy going manner fit right in. Kim, Third Stew, has never worked on a boat and brings a freshness that is disarming. And Tyler, Deck Hand, is also experiencing his first tour. The guys are enjoying teaching Tyler all of the ins and outs of boating and upkeep.
Major Wager departs tomorrow for the Panama Canal and on to the British Virgin Islands. We will re-join on December 14th to celebrate Kelly Hoien’s 50th birthday with her family. They are spending the first few weeks of December sailing in the BVI Islands.
We are looking forward to Thanksgiving with Jesse, Ren, Bucky, and Sami Bedell and Kelly and Ellie Mulhern at Peace Ranch in Basalt, Colorado.
There is so much to be thankful for everyday. Thanksgiving gives us the reminder to let our friends, loved ones and associates know how special they are in our lives. In October we spent 10 days in India which, for those of you who have visited there know so well, is overwhelming in its poverty and need. We can debate ideas and be frustrated by the downs and ups of our stock market, but, comparatively, all of us have terrific lives for which we must be enormously grateful.
Happy Thanksgiving,
Molly and Tom Bedell
